I like Jon and Kate plus Eight. I really do. I tape it ever Monday and settle down to watch it and then phone my friend Janna and discuss its highlights and then check out mothering.com/discussions to see what those moms are saying about it...clearly I really like it!
But one thing has been starting to get to me. And its not that their children are in front of the camera, or all those other negative things that are going on in their personal lives.
Last nights episode, Jon was serving lunch to his kids while Kate was in New York (probably promoting her book). See I have to stay away from negative comments, because once I go neg, I should just stop watching!
He made them PB&J sandwiches with grapes on the side. I am pretty sure that their PB&J and the grapes are organic, as Kate gushes organically and has said dozens of times that they try to eat 85% organic (correct me with the proper percentage if its wrong). I have noticed in past episodes that they have a lot of organic grocery items, such as lollipops etc.
But, Jon served lunch on PAPER DISPOSABLE PLATES!!! That he threw out after his 6 kids ate on them!! And I have seen them do this before several times.
AND a paper plate company advertises during J&K+8 with the idea being "save time doing the dishes, spend more quality time with family". I think its more like "use disposable plates for your meals, and ensure your greatgrandchildren will have to breath oxygen from tanks".
Ok so thats a little morbid and sinister.
I am guessing that Kate just buys and consumes organic food for the benefit of her children's diets and because she knows how "great" it is; not because of the pesticide-free farming practices that have an impact on the land, animals, and humans.
But I will still watch it every Monday night.

Oh no you didn't just taunt me that you have a Cricut! I am so jealous!!! Lucky girl, I haven't made the jump cause I have so much Sizzix stuff and I do like how it can cut through felt and fabric. I also have like 9 alphabet sets for their Sizlets line so quite a bundle invested. Note that these were all purchased prebaby days!
Oh and yes I'm trying to teach her that less is more when accessorizing, but as you can tell it's not working! Wonder what'll happen when she starts putting on makeup, LOL!
Okay now for YOUR post...I am also addicted to John and Kate and I totally know and agree with what you're saying. Have you read the gossip about that show and her in particular? Things like Procter and Gamble hiring her to promote some coupon book and lots of people getting all in a tisy about it. Or how they won't let Aunt Jody get paid for being on their show. Or how she's mean to her husband in front of the kids and how they exploit their kids etc. etc. etc. so you're not along my friend!
I have seen so many American shows with paper plates and plastic cups and cutlery.
Also, I saw a J&K+8 show where they went to Costco and saw crap like poptarts in their grocery cart... dunno if this was before or after their organic conversion. I personally hate the show and think that Kate has a witchy personality.
Ok now I will read Katie's comment!
