Starting Solids

Ike started eating "solid" food while we were on vacation.

First thing he tried was my slow cooker roasted butternut squash (squash cut in half, cup of water, 6 hours on high, then pureed with added cooking water). He thought it was just fine. Not over the moon, but fine.

Next we tried my blanched apricots (boiled, cooled, peeled, steamed, pureed, oh my!) - I thought these would be the most delicious apricots EVER--but no, they were too tart for Ikester.

Then I read about Baby-led weaning, or Baby-led solids. Brilliant!! Baby can eat whatever you are having and its not pureed. We tried cool cucumber spears. Poor little guy was teething and I knew it would feel and taste good. I realize I broke the rules when I didn't start with green bean spears or steamed carrot spears.

He now enjoys bananas, apples, carrots, cantelope, squash, avocado, and broccoli. We have also added prunes to help the little guy out :)
Happy 6 months Ike!
